The goddesses of Ancient Egypt embodied complex representations of creation, destruction, motherhood, fertility, wisdom and justice. These female archetypes can still be recognized in our cultural thinking today, yet they often appear distant and less accessible to younger generations.
My diploma project examines the figures of the ancient Egyptian goddesses as mythological characters and cultural symbols. The aim of the publication is to reduce the distance between past and present by reinterpreting mythological narratives in a contemporary and visually accessible form.
The publication presents 20 goddesses: 8 widely known, iconic figures and 12 lesser-known, less frequently represented ones. The focus is not solely on mythological events, but on highlighting each goddess’s character, symbolism and visual identity.
The diploma project takes the form of an illustrated publication in landscape A4 format. The illustrations were created using digital techniques, and certain elements are printed in gold, referencing the richness and sacred visual culture of Ancient Egypt.
