This officially accredited M.A. degree is specially designed for those interested in the study of European cultures, trans- and intercultural communication, and the traditions of European multiculturalism. The four semester full time program, which is taught in Hungarian, and – on candidate’s choice – German or English, and it aims at forming specialists (cross cultural specialists, teachers, translators, journalists, editors, etc.) in various cultural processes, intercultural contacts, in the past and present of European cultures. Therefore, the degree program is recommended firstly to Bachelor of Arvcts degree holders (Language and Literature, Philosophy, History, European Studies, Journalism, etc.). The specialization, however, is open to anyone who holds an undergraduate degree.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN
The curriculum is based on 50% Hungarian core subjects. In addition, students may choose between courses taught in the English or German language. The focus is, as shown below, on cultural, literary, language, and translation studies: Introduction to Intercultural Studies, History of Central/Eastern Europe in the 19th and 20th Centuries, The History and the Institutions of the European Union, Globalization and Post-colonialism, Theatre and Cultural Intermedium, Cultural Memory and Imagology in Central/Eastern Europe, Identity and Cultural Otherness, Cultural Contacts and the Perception of Cultural Otherness,Interpretation of Contemporary Popular Culture, European Language Policies,Language and Communication, Linguistics and Intercultural Communication,Intercultural Communication Techniques, Translation: Theory, Practice, and Criticism, Regional Literatures, etc.

Teacher training
The Department for Teacher Training of the Partium Christian University in Oradea provides basic and in-depth teacher training for those who wish to enroll in the Level I and II pedagogical modules during their studies, moreover postgraduate training for those who decide to enter the teaching profession after completing their university studies. It is a complementary module to any major.
Science
Scientific and artistic research is a permanent feature of the PCU’s activities, involving both our teachers and students. Over the years, several research groups have been set up, either within departments or through interdepartmental collaboration, to regularly carry out research projects, conferences, and other specialized programs.
Arany János Dormitory
The dormitory located in the city centre offers not only accommodation but also dining and laundry options for university students at affordable prices. Additionally, it provides peaceful study conditions and Wi-Fi access. Also, within the dormitory building, there is a Student Club where students can chat over coffee, tea, or soft drinks and play table football.
