Thirty Years of Hungarian-Language Economics Education at PCU and in Romania
Partium Christian University celebrated three decades of Hungarian-language economics education at a jubilee conference.

The Department of Economics of Partium Christian University and the Partium Institute for Territorial Research organized a scientific conference entitled Jubilee 30 on 8 May. The event paid tribute to the academic programme launched in the 1995/96 academic year, which is regarded as the first Hungarian-language economics programme in Romanian higher education after the political transition.

At the opening ceremony, participants were welcomed by Dr. József Pálfi, Rector of Partium Christian University, Dr. Ferenc Szilágyi, Dean, and Dr. Edit Veres, Head of Department. The plenary lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. Imre Fertő, Director General of ELTE KRTK. This was followed by a roundtable discussion entitled “Where Is Economics Higher Education Heading? Community, Networks and Economic Thinking in a Changing World.” The discussion brought together Prof. Dr. Veronika Fenyves, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business at the University of Debrecen; Prof. Dr. Mónika Garai-Fodor, Dean of the Keleti Károly Faculty of Business and Management at Óbuda University; Prof. Dr. Mariann Veresné Somosi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics at the University of Miskolc; Prof. Dr. Imre Fertő, Director General of ELTE KRTK; Dr. Ede Lázár, President of the Senate of Sapientia Hungarian University of Transylvania; and Dr. Ferenc Szilágyi, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Social Sciences at Partium Christian University. The discussion was moderated by Prof. Dr. József Fogarasi. One of the main values of the conference was that several Hungarian and Transylvanian faculty and institutional leaders jointly reflected on the future of economics education, the possibilities of academic networking, and the role of Hungarian-language higher education.

The programme continued with a poster session and two economics sections, where researchers presented papers on topics including territorial processes, labour markets, digitalization, tourism, artificial intelligence, and corporate finance.
